The Greater Golden Hill Community Development Corporation was founded in 1991 by a group of concerned community members with a shared vision of a better future for Greater Golden Hill. The GGHCDC has a long history of achievement and good-will building in the neighborhood. The Greater Golden Hill Community Development Corporation has programs that have preserved the historic and unique character of our community. The Mission Statement of the Greater Golden Hill Community Development Corporation is the principle directive that Guides our Board of Director's plans and actions. The Mission Statement of the Greater Golden Hill Community Development Corporation is:
"The Greater Golden Hill Community Development Corporation works to unify and empower the neighborhood's residents, property owners, and business people to bring about physical improvement, while preserving the historic and unique character of our community and fostering cultural, educational, and economic opportunities in order to improve the quality of life in Greater Golden Hill."
Through the last couple of decades, the neighborhood of Greater Golden Hill has changed for the better and has remained historic. Some of the changes have been the Old House Fair that is held in the month of June and showcases Greater Golden Hill's historic homes. Another change has been in the area of community awareness and responsibility. The 32nd Street Canyon task force has spearheaded improvement and the preservation of the neighborhood's open space. Our residents who live in apartments are served by the Golden Hill Community Garden. The Community Garden provides 26 garden plots for Golden Hill residents that do not have the opportunity to garden due to communal living conditions.
