~ Showcases South Park’s Historic Neighborhood ~

The 10th annual Old House Fair is taking place on Saturday, June 21st, 2008 from 10 am to 4 pm.  The event will feature a historic home tour, free half-hour design consultations, antique appraisals, walking tours, live music, children’s activities and crafts, community booths, food vendors, and local artists and restoration experts.   The fair will take place over two blocks in South Park intersecting at 30th and Beech Streets.

South Park is the perfect location for such an event, as it has undergone extensive restoration itself over the years.  This year, fair goers will have the opportunity to talk with vendors who specialize in home restoration issues - such as specialized hardware, lighting, fireplace repair, woodworking experts, landscape design, interior design, window and paint and color exhibitors, all of whom are happy to answer questions and offer advice.

A walking tour, offered by Urban Safaris, will last approximately 30 minutes and will be filled with fun facts and history about the neighborhood.  The tour is being offered to Old House Fair attendees for free (normal fee is $10).

Back for another year is the famous Old House Fair Tour.  The tour features five historic homes in Golden Hill and South Park.  Tickets for this self-guided tour are $15 and can be purchased at the information booth.

Angel Appraisers will be returning to the Old House Fair to offer their mini version of Antiques Road Show.  There will be a cost of $10 per item appraised.  For those attendees that have design questions, a design consultant will be on site offering their expert advice.  Interested design consultation participants must call ahead to reserve a consultation time with Raz + Majette Designs at 619-563-3982.

Seventy exhibitors and thousands of attendees are expected to attend and participate in this year’s activities. The event will feature family friendly activities provided by the San Diego Museum of Art and The Home Depot.  Entrance to the Old House Fair is free
